Memories

NannyOne hopes you all enjoyed watching the last video, did you get any new tips that you can use in your own scrapbook designs.
In this next post I will be chatting about Memories. Now, when you are working on your pages, you are most likely going down memory lane with some of your photo's, as I did when scrapping my children's albums.
With their album's I started with photo's from before they were born up to their last years of school. Yes NannyOne had a few laughs and tears, on the whole, though a lot of great memories.
We all have our photo's collected in boxes, drawers and in albums ( this was like a scrapbook), showing them off to family and friends when ever they turned up. Today with new-age technology, new upmarket camera's, and computers, people are not wanting to sit for hours looking through photo albums. Photo's are downloaded onto the computer straight away, so sending them to family and friends is so much quicker and easier.
With these new ways of looking at your photo's, most times you are unable to capture the real feeling and story behind the photo. That is where scrapbooking comes into the picture.
Having these memories telling a story, makes browsing your photo's much more enjoyable. Passing these memories onto your grandchildren, having them telling their children about their heritage, with photo's and a story attached, will make looking at photo's, not a boring old task.
Until next time NannyOne catches up with all, I am signing off now, with another video for you to watch.

Building Pages

My, NannyOne had better get cracking on building more tips for my fellow readers.
Now that you have set up your work space and have have all your materials in order, you can then continue on your journey to accomplish your first Scrapbook Album. Once you have an idea of what you would like to add to your pages, then it is simply just cutting, sticking, stamping, writing your text (journal), and having FUN !!!
Some great NannyOne Building page tips are;
  • Do not over crowd your page,
  • Make sure your photo is the main attraction on the page,
  • Use the two sides of the one piece of cardstock, for 2 pages
  • Design your pages with a different layout, each time
Time is slipping by, so I would like to give you a little video that may be of interest, for building ideas for your scrapbook.

Stepping Stones

Welcome back to the next segment in Nanny One's, scrapbook adventures.
Following on from my last post, you now have the photo's in order. Now it is time to pick a theme for your project. When you have picked the photo's you want scrapped, you are now ready to get underway.
Before you start, make sure you have good space to work in, this will make it so much easier to think and design your pages.
Materials you will need are a cutting mat, cutter/ cutting knife, glue, ruler, scissors, photo mounting squares, adhesives, paper, cardstock, album, paints/ stamps. At this stage all you have to do is work out your layout for your photo's on the cardstock and paper, then attach the photo's onto the background you have chosen.
When I first started I went out and purchased a lot of materials and equipment that I did not need, a first. So when you are starting out, just buy the minimal things you require, to make the pages of your album.
NannyOne will have some more great tips next post.

Beginings

Well I better get to work on this venture, as my last post was very short.
I started to scrapbook only around 2 1/2 yrs ago. I have always taken lots of photo's on my travels, only to put half in albums and the rest in boxes, and forgotten about. With having quite a few moves in my life, around 30plus, you can see I have plenty of photo's to scrap!
When I was invited to join a scrapbook workshop, get-together, I thought it would be a good idea to go along and find out what it was all about. Well guess, I got hooked!! I found a great way to get my photo's into albums, tell a story and live memories at the same time.
First you need photo's, and with these it is always good to sort them into categories, such as family, holidays, school days, these are just a few ideas. You can put the photo's in photo boxes or similar item, have dividers and label them so when you decide what you are going to scrap, you can quickly find the photo's you need.
